Martin Neary, 1940-2025

We were sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of distinguished organist and conductor Martin Neary.  Martin conducted Twickenham Choral 1966-1972 before going on to be Organist and Master of the Music at Winchester (1972-1987) and  Organist and Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey (1988-1998).

In 2022 he returned to Twickenham Choral to conduct Parry’s I was glad, one of 13 pieces conducted by 13 conductors in our Gala concert celebrating the choir’s centenury on 13th May 2022.

Here is an extract from the Gala concert programme, written by Martin as he looked back fondly on his time with the choir.Twickenham Choral Cent doc_Extract

We send our condolences to his family and are grateful for his contribution to the choir’s success.
