They’re changing guard at Buckingham Palace!

Christopher Herrick went down with  – Sarah!

The brilliant choir called Twickenham Choral

Had set it all up. What a fabulous day!

🥁💂🏻🎺🥁– said Sarah.

In recognition of Christopher Herrick’s stellar tenure as Conductor and Music Director of Twickenham Choral, Christopher and Sarah attended a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last month. And a jolly time they had too!

Christopher says:  As you see from the photo, Sarah was looking smashing and yours truly decided against Morning Coat and donned the suit I had had tailor-made in Hong Kong back in 1997. It was a rare opportunity to sport a tie!! The King wasn’t there, but Royals were otherwise abundant.  We were apparently two of 7,500 people. The Tea, the Rose Garden and the Yeomen of the Guard were the highlights for me – and also the Military Bands’ ultra shiny instruments! Thank you all very much. It was a privilege to represent the Choir that I’ve been the proud Conductor of for half a Century.

Sarah adds: A fine day dawned. Although we could have walked from Victoria, we had the greatest pleasure in arriving at Waterloo and jumping into a taxi with the words:  ‘Buckingham Palace, please’. It turned out to be a superb people-watching do.  The gardens were superb, and the teas excellent, served by lovely staff once you got to the front of your particular queue. Two military bands played in turn at opposite sides of the vast lawn. The Prince and Princess of Wales were our hosts – she in primrose yellow from afar. The Yeomen of the Guard were in solid attendance keeping the public at bay, while an Egyptian Goose graced the Corps Diplomatique lawn. The Royals left, the heels came off.  Thank you – indeed, a fabulous day.
